Is Orion Stars App Legit?

Orion Stars easily takes the crown for the most frustrating sweepstakes casino out there. On one hand, its selection of in-house fish games is a bubble bath for everyone who’s into them. But, and it’s a big but, the uncertainty around cashing out makes it a hardly viable online gaming option.

So, is Orion Stars legit? The answer will depend on what you’re planning to do with it. If you want to spice up your trip to work (or work itself) with some fish games, go for it. But if you’re in it to win it, there are plenty of other fish in the online sea.

How Does Orion Stars Work?

Orion Stars Banner

Orion Stars Casino is a great platform for playing fish games on the go. That’s because most of them are created in-house by Orion Stars, who also distribute their games to other sweepstakes casinos. It serves up 60+ fish games alongside side dishes like blackjack, keno, and an occasional poker.

But to access them, you’ll have to pass several roadblocks first. The first stumbling block with Orion Stars is its registration process. Instead of handling its own signup, the casino leaves it to shady Facebook distributors and wonky sweepstakes casino aggregators like BitPlay.

To exemplify, here’s one way to access Orion Stars:

  1. Go to BitPlay and locate the Sing-Up button.
  2. Enter the required data.
  3. Choose Orion Stars from the list of platforms.
  4. Provide proof of identity.
  5. Verify your phone.

Conversely, you can fill out a contact form on its website, but I got ghosted going that route.

Anyway, once in, you can either play from the Web or through a dedicated app. And that’s the second roadblock: the Orion Stars app is nowhere near safe enough to vouch for a download, let alone an installation. To download the app:

  1. Visit the Orion Stars Casino website either with your iOS or Android device.
  2. Click the big, bubbling Orion Stars DOWNLOAD button.
  3. Provide permissions to install .apk from an untrusted source.
  4. Install the app on your device.
  5. Use the BitPlay username and password to log in.

Once you get past the registration hurdle, you’ll now be free to play the casino games on Orion Stars. The app was, in fact, my preferred way due to its sweepstakes operation mode. But we would urge caution when choosing to install the app of such an unwarranted pedigree. Also, is the Orion Stars app legit in terms of paying, playing, and redeeming money? It’s still a no.

Is Orion Stars Legal in the US?

Orion Stars Casino operates on a sweepstakes model, meaning that it is perfectly possible to install the app and play its fish games for fun or otherwise. So long as you don’t reside in Washington and are over 18, you’ll be good to go.

That doesn’t make the Orion Stars Casino legit. The app installation process leaves something to be desired, and there is more than one withdrawal problem to note. Moreover, like many platforms of its kind, Orion Stars operates off-shore, and US legislation doesn’t look too kindly on such practices. But the most likely scenario is that you won’t have legal problems accessing and playing fish games on Orion Stars. Until you try to redeem winnings, that is.

Does Orion Stars Pay Out?

Once you’ve jumped through all the hoops and set up your Orion Stars online account, it’s time to start playing. Orion Stars Casino proved to be an excellent option for mindless, cashless fun. But when you play your first $ and start playing for money, that’s where our biggest gripe kicks in.

Remarkably, Orion Stars Casino has a history of not paying out. I’m not joking. That’s because it doesn’t handle its own business but rather ships it off to agents of varying credibility.

But let’s take a step back. Depending on your Orion Stars agent or distributor of choice, you’ll be able to place deposits and (theoretically) withdraw your winnings in one of several ways:

  • Credit card: Visa or MasterCard
  • Crypto: Bitcoin, Dogecoin, and Ether coin
  • Cash App

Having said that, there were documented cases of these casino agents not respecting the promised bonus offering or not responding to redemption requests. And the worst of all, there’s no one really to complain to. Orion Stars Casino doesn’t handle cashouts and many of its agents are neither licensed nor legit.

To be fair here, for all its problems and shortcomings, BitPlay seems to be among the more secure options if you want to play fish games and win money on Orion Stars Casino. At the very least, you’ll get an automatic message when requesting a payout.

Can You Use Orion Stars Bonuses for Real-Money Wins?

While staying on the slim side, Orion Stars sweepstakes casino does offer some bonuses and promotions to help hook new players on its excellent bevy of fish games. But crucially, the casino itself offers none but rather leaves the bonus side of the business to its many distributors.

You see where we’re going with this? Your Orion Stars bonus selection will depend on how shady your distributor is. The rule of thumb: the shadier it is, the better bonuses promised. Speaking of signing up through BitPlay, there is a glaring omission of a no deposit bonus, so you can’t try out games in free play before making a purchase.

Wait, there’s more. One of the bonuses (VIP) requires you to pay $2,000 to get in (no joke). And there are question marks on whether you can actually win anything with them, given the casino’s history of disregarding cash-out requests.

Anyway, here’s a list of all the bonuses we were promised by signing up through BitPlay, perhaps one of the less dodgy distributors for Orion Stars:

  • First deposit bonus: 50% first purchase bonus
  • Second and Third Deposit Bonus: 20% for second and third purchases
  • Birthday Bonus: 50% deposit on birthday
  • Weekly Challenge: Requires deposits Monday to Friday to receive some free credits
  • Referral Bonus: $10 in free credits for each referral link
  • Facebook Promotions: Free giveaways and distributor promotions
  • VIP Program: The $2,000 scheme we hardly felt like trying.

User Reviews of Orion Stars

You’ll be hard-pressed to find user reviews of Orion Stars since its Trustpilot score page – the one where people complained about being incapable of redeeming their winnings – seems to have been whitewashed. But they’ve done a poor job of it, leaving the score to (flattering) 3.7 despite having only two reviews, a 5-star fake endorsement, and a 3-star oh-so-balanced review. For a casino, math isn’t really its strongest suit.

We remember the Orion Stars Casino review page on Trustpilot page from the time before fake reviews when people bashed the platform and its agents for not responding to their redemption messages. Some even complained that the agents changed passwords and even blocked their accounts. Players lost hundreds of dollars on Orion Stars, and the customer service team was MIA.

Better Alternatives to Orion Stars Casino

Orion Stars doesn’t operate on its own. Instead, it offloads the business side of things to agents and distributors who come from all sorts of backgrounds. Orion Stars even says so on their page; the casino washes hands from any player mistreatment on the part of their distributors.

Orion Stars Terms

For that and a couple of other reasons, we suggest you keep your money away from Orion Stars and similar platforms that don’t handle their own business but leave things to shady agents. In the worst-case scenario, bad experiences can put you off sweepstakes gaming.

And that’d be a shame, considering how many trusted and well-thought-out social casinos there are. We recommend you stay on the safe side and put your trust in platforms that provide safe payment options and have security measures in place.

Our Verdict – Is Orion Stars a Scam?

Orion Stars is a sweepstakes casino that offers 60+ fish games made in-house. As such, it’s not a scam. But the fact that they offload the business side of things to agents, distributors, and social casino aggregators leaves plenty of room for muddling the water.

Factor in the fact that many players have been stripped of their winnings in the past, and you’ll be hard-pressed not to take your money elsewhere. Casinos like Fortune Coins, Funrize, or WOW Vegas are far superior options.
